If you are over 45 [like me!] this may be of interest
15/06/2009 by Kerry.
I have been advised by a Consultant doing some good work for SEEDA that there is an organisation that specialises in head hunting for the more mature candidates. I mentioned this to someone on the network and they have already registered and found it very useful.
www.matureaccountants.com I hasten to add that the organisation does more than jobs in the financial sector. Martin Lloyd-Penny is the person who set this up. He recently featured in a TV programme about the difficulties of getting interviews after a certain age. This angst made him set up the above.
Anyway if 40 is the new 25 then we are all spring chickens.
Hope you all have a good week

interim management positions!
14/06/2009 by Kerry.
As you know from those who have regular contact with me I view the Network as a Fellowship - we have some tremendous talents in our network - so I thought you would all be interested in knowing the following!
‘We’ have a Head hunter who is doing some brokering with a Management Consultant who specialises in Interim Management positions. I will gladly forward any interest onto her. What I suggest is that if you want further information you send me a formalish email outlining your skills - work history etc. I can then forward it onto her. As you all know one of my ‘Kerryisms’ is the fact that 80% of jobs are never advertised. This may be a way in to that elusive number

Hampshire & IOW Jobcentre Plus looking for a Higher Executive Officer
14/06/2009 by Kerry.
There is an external recruitment drive for a Higher Executive Officer (HEO) for an external relations manager for Hampshire and IOW Jobcentre Plus. This is a great way of getting a foot in the door of DP’s massive organisation - and the best seem to rise to the top very quickly there.
Further information for anyone who is interested can be found at the DWP website (www.dwp.gov.uk)

Kerry saying hello
13/06/2009 by Kerry.
First of all I am thrilled that Steve has kindly set this up - it allows me to share information quickly and to everyone who is interested.
I attended a meeting at the University of Portsmouth Business School - the key speaker was Professor Neil Rackham talking about consultative selling. Sadly it was only the evening before the event that I was told it was going to be open to you all. Too short notice. He stressed that the way forward in Sales and Marketing are with personnel who have transferrable skills - be it finance, engineering etc. The days of ‘talking brochures’ are over. This is not my area of expertise - but wanted you all to be aware of him and his views on the subject.

Welcome
12/06/2009 by Steve Butler.
Welcome to the new Executive Network blog hosted by Open Door Training.
The intended format is that Kerry calls the shots and authorises participants to join and post, and Steve Butler will do all the boring techie stuff in the background to keep it running smoothly.
Please feel free to post any articles, comments or advice to the rest of the group so we may all benefit and give feedback. If you have any suggestions for additions to the site setup, please let Steve or Kerry know or just post a comment and people can feedback on whether they agree!
The categories feature has been added to help organise the data - if you can assign a relevant category when you post a new blog item it will help to find that item in the future. These blog things can get pretty big pretty quickly, and the more we put into this blog the more we’ll get out of it. We aren’t restricted to those folk who are between jobs either…the intention is that this blog will be for an ever growing network of executives who can help each other out with any issues we face over the coming weeks, months and years.
Cheers one and all….and welcome!
